Privacy Policy
CORTEN TECHNOLOGIES LLC
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 7, 2026
Version 1.0
This Privacy Policy explains how Corten Technologies LLC ("Corten", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Corten construction-management platform (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here. This Policy is incorporated into our Terms of Service.
1. Who This Policy Covers
This Policy applies to account holders and their invited team members, to visitors of our marketing website, and to people who contact us through the Service. If your company uses Corten, your company is the controller of the business data it enters, and Corten processes that data on its behalf.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account and Profile Information
When you create an account we collect your name, work email address, company name, and the password you choose (stored only as a salted hash — we never see your plaintext password). Profile details such as your title, phone number, and signature are optional.
2.2 Business Data You Enter
The Service exists to store the information you put into it: bids and estimates, projects and jobs, contacts and vendors, tasks, change orders, invoices, schedules, daily logs, photos, and uploaded documents. This content belongs to you and your company. We access it only to operate, support, secure, and improve the Service, or where you direct us to (for example, generating a proposal).
2.3 Payment Information
Paid subscriptions are not yet available. When they launch, payments will be processed by our payment processor, Stripe: card details will be entered directly with Stripe and will not be stored on Corten's servers, and Corten will retain only limited billing metadata such as plan, subscription status, and the last four digits and brand of your card as returned by Stripe. We do not currently collect or store any payment card information.
2.4 Usage and Device Information
Like most online services, we automatically collect log data when you use the Service — IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and timestamps — to keep the Service secure and reliable.
2.5 Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember trusted devices for two-factor authentication. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to: provide and maintain the Service; authenticate you and protect your account; process subscriptions and send billing and transactional email; provide customer support; generate the outputs you request, including AI-assisted features; monitor, troubleshoot, and improve performance and security; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
4. AI-Assisted Features
Certain features — such as scanning subcontractor quotes and drafting proposals or scopes — send the specific content you submit to our AI provider, Anthropic, solely to generate the requested output and return it to you. This content is not used to train AI models. You control when these features run.
5. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to run the Service, and only with providers bound to protect it:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage hosting
- Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing (when paid plans launch)
- Resend — delivery of transactional and account email
- Anthropic — processing for AI-assisted features you invoke
- Netlify — hosting and delivery of the application
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, to protect the rights and safety of Corten or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to you). We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and business data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete or de-identify your data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records to meet legal, tax, accounting, or security obligations. Terms-of-Service acceptance records are retained as proof of agreement.
7. Data Security
We protect your information using access controls, encryption in transit, tenant isolation so one company cannot access another's data, and optional two-factor authentication. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify affected users of a material breach as required by law.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update most account details in the Service directly, or contact us at support@cortentec.com to make a request. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. Company administrators manage the business data and team members within their workspace.
9. Data Ownership
The business data your company enters into the Service remains yours. Corten claims no ownership of your project, financial, or client data and will not use it for any purpose other than providing and improving the Service to you.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for businesses and is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. State and International Privacy Rights
Residents of certain U.S. states (such as California) have specific rights regarding their personal information, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information — and because we do not sell personal information, there is nothing to opt out of. If you access the Service from outside the United States, understand that your information is processed in the United States.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you within the Service or by email. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
